“The Weight Of The World” è l’album di debutto dei 7days. Gruppo nato dal genio musicale di Markus Sigfridsson (chitarre e tastiere) e che tra le sue file annovera la presenza, inoltre , di Thomas Vikström (voce), Anders Olsson (basso) ed infine Daniel Flore (batteria). I 7day offrono un progressive metal di ottima fattura con qualche influenza neoclassica.
‘Redeemer’ è la canzone che apre il Cd, bel pezzo che colpisce subito per l’ottima voce del cantante e le tastiere che con le chitarre s’impongono in modo prepotente.
L’album prosegue con ‘Confession’, altra canzone di ottima fattura. Bello il ritornello che dice: “Forgive me / Please ease my mind / forgive me / Please wipe away these tears / Oh, be my guide and make me understand Your ways / Oh, be my guide and take me to the way that You have made / How can I make You stay / Is there a way to feed this fire / When will it go away / Will it always haunt my mind... ”.
‘The Darkest Winter’ è il terzo brano, una tranquilla canzone che si mantiene sull’ottimo livello dell’album ma che non incide particolarmente.
Procedendo con la tracklist arriviamo a ‘Fall again’, un bellissimo pezzo a due voci, dove Caroline Sigfridsson duetta con Vikström. Canzone molto intensa, con molto pathos e lo si può capire molto bene dal testo: “I walk in the light of a Saviour / And my heart is pure (the) truth is burning within me / I confess in the blood of remission / Unrighteousness is leaving me again / Oh, yes I will fall again / But I will never fear this darkness / Oh, cause You are my tourniquet / And in Your name I’ll pierce the darkness... ”.
L’album continua con ‘Where are you’ bel pezzo che però non lascia il segno, per poi arrivare alla titletrack ‘The Weight Of The World’ pezzo potente dai tratti quasi doom.
‘Save me’ è la canzone successiva, altro brano che si fa notare per la sua intensità, bello il ritornello dove Vikström canta: “Endless tears / For thousands of years / We fear the old / The ancient dragon / When darkness falls / I will be there/I won’t deny His name... ”.
‘With you Forever’ , altro pezzo di ottima fattura molto potente, è l’ottavo brano del Cd che termina con ‘Wisdom Calls’, ottima cover dei Veni Domine.
Concludendo non dobbiamo dimenticarci della partecipazione di Kaspar Dahlquist che nell’album si occupa di tutti i “keyboard solos”.
Tirando le somme i 7days escono con un ottimo CD, dalle sonorità potenti e dolci allo stesso tempo, che riescono a metter in mostra le doti di ogni singolo musicista. Molti i richiami a Dio presenti nei testi,album valido sotto molti punti di vista, insomma come già detto sopra una bella sorpresa questi 7days!
