Bello anche il testo: ”The wandering fool searches for his pot of gold / He doesn't know what is bid upon has already been sold / Lifts his eyes to the skies once again / The question of life and what has God done for him / Blames everyone else for his thoughtless life / And he talks to the dead for consent in what is right / Choosing to ignore the plan divine / And he finds himself the dying fruit on the vine / And he centers in...on himself.”
Ricordiamo le parole del testo: “Shone forth from the light of day / Past returns to haunt me again / And doing it well I say / Weight barely lifted from cruel way in / Misery thrives on it / The methodical heart of the never-ending sin / The size of it all overpowers the soul.”
Chitarre e tastiere la fanno da padrone in ‘The Learned Man’, creando riff grintosi che formano un mix davvero speciale con la voce; da citare il testo che parla di fede: "Seeing is believing, I might beg to differ / To master the deception / And sink further into the river / Life is yours; your quest was always here / To catch a glimpse of the Savior / Through this multi coloured smear / Wipe away the tears.../ You are the learned man”.
Affirmed reality of christian metal, Deliverance in 2001 published this album titled “Assimilation”.
Album with strong industrial attitudes, with a sound from the classic thrash metal played by the band since the beginnings.
Just with the opening song ‘The Limitless Light’ , we can hear the strong industrial presence in the band sound, voice filtered and electronic characterizes this song; the following tracks run on the same way of this first song, without adding particular and relevant notes.
In ‘The Circle’ the guitars offer good entries with their excellent job, accompanied by the voice of Jimmy P. Brown II who shows all his potential.
Beautiful also the lyric: "The wandering fool searches for his pot of gold / He doesn't know what is bid upon has already been sold / Lifts his eyes to the skies once again / The question of life and what has God done for him / Blames everyone else for his thoughtless life / And he talks to the dead for consent in what is right / Choosing to ignore the plan divine / And he finds himself the dying fruit on the vine / And he centers in...on himself.”
A nice piece is also the following ‘Sell Your Soul‘ where the musical package of the band offers really the best of its repertoire and sometimes the voice of the singer is like David Bowie hazarding the comparison.
THese are the words of the song: “Shone forth from the light of day / Past returns to haunt me again / And doing it well I say / Weight barely lifted from cruel way in / Misery thrives on it / The methodical heart of the never-ending sin / The size of it all overpowers the soul”.
Guitars and keyboards are the leaders in ‘The Learned Man’ creating gritty riffs that make a really special mix with the voice. I need to cite the lyric that talks about the faith: "Seeing is believing, I might beg to differ / To master the deception / And sink further into the river / Life is yours; your quest was always here / To catch a glimpse of the Savior / Through this multi coloured smear / Wipe away the tears... / You are the learned man”.
‘Between 2 Worlds’ opens with a riff of hammering guitar that takes the song on almost doom sonorities, song that confirms the quality of this CD.
Sweet the attitudes of ‘Impressions’ where the guitars leads the song, a song that for all its length , it moves on slow sonorities, that seems to work hard to get the rhythm.
Good the proof of Deliverance with this “Assimilation”, album with which the band goes far from its origin genre, but that however it’s able to present a good job.
The exploration of a sound more industrial, it pays, and the 10 pieces are very interesting, maybe we could work hard to listen the first time this CD. Interpreting the tracks of “Assimilation” it could result difficult, but after a deeper listening, we could appreciate the huge qualities of this CD.
