DOCILE  "Babylon Ablaze"

I Docile sono una band di death metal proveniente dai Paesi Bassi. Nel 2007 hanno rilasciato il Demo "Babylon Ablaze". Più tardi, nel corso dell’anno, hanno aggiunto due canzoni e poi rilasciato L'EP intitolato ancora "Babylon Ablaze" che è oggetto di questa recensione. Questo EP inizia con dei ritmi lenti, nella canzone ‘Fragile Commitment’. In questa versione il pezzo è stato arricchito con una maggiore dose di melodia, che ne ha aumentato l'energia complessiva. Il sound della band da un lato è grezzo e diretto, dall'altro esprime una melodia che conquista e che garantisce diverse sfumature al sound dei singoli pezzi Egregiamente sono stati aggiunti più suoni e strumenti, inoltre hanno aggiunto molta più enegia in questa canzone. I loro suono è grezzo da una parte, e ha un qualcosa di melodico e potente dall’altra parte, e porta in un sacco di variazioni nel suono e nella musica già solo in una canzone mentre il suono non è dissonante.
I testi delle canzoni ci trasmettono messaggi diretti, evitando di utilizzare eccessivi giri di parole com in 'Fragile Commitment':
“Listen to my words Read my lips / I have hurt you a thousand times / But I will never leave you behind/ Behind / Behind you I will always stand.”
Tutte e sette le canzoni proseguono nello stesso stile potente, con i testi che ci parlano del caos che qualche volta notiamo nelle emozioni umane e nelle interazioni sociali; questo emerge ad esempio dal testo di Answer Me: “Rain is all I feel / Heavenly tears cool down my face / Tears from Heaven wash away / Wash away my tears.”
A livello strumentale è possibile recepire i passaggi e le melodie intrecciate da tutti i musicisti mentre le linee vocali sono più difficile di individuare. Nel prossimo album non sarebbe male se la voce di JJ fosse più pulita e chiara.
In conclusione possiamo affermare che tutte le canzoni dell’album "Babylon Ablaze" meritano una chance e si fanno ascoltare con piacere.

Docile is death metal band from The Netherlands. In 2007 they first released the Demo "Babylon Ablaze". Later that year they added two songs and released the EP entitled again "Babylon Ablaze", which we’ll review now.
This EP starts with slow sounds, in the song ‘Fragile Commitment’. In a great way more sounds and instruments are added, after which they release heaps of energy in this song. Their sound is rough on the one hand, and has something melodic and powerful on the other, and brings a lot of variation in sound and music already in one song, while it doesn’t sound disharmonic.
The lyrics say what the writer wants them to say, without using very much words like in 'Fragile Commitment': "Listen to my words Read my lips/ I have hurt you a thousand times/ But I will never leave you behind/ Behind/ Behind you I will always stand."
All seven songs they go on in the same powerful way, with lyrics which tell about the chaos we sometimes notice in human emotions and social interactions; this is possible to read for example in the song 'Answer Me': "Rain is all I feel / Heavenly tears cool down my face / Tears from Heaven wash away / Wash away my tears."
The music greatly ensembles the melodies, when you’re holding them with you while listening – for that’s the only lesser point, the vocals are often hardly noticeable, left alone that one can try to understand what they’re about while only listening. The next album we’d love to hear JJ’s voice grunting more audible. All in all "Babylon Ablaze" is certainly an album worth listening to.
