I Morphia sono una band doom metal olandese. Il loro ultimo album, "Fading Beauty", e' stato rilasciato nel 2005 dall'etichetta Fear Dark.
La musica di Fading Beauty è una combinazione di musica melodica e chitarre pesanti, voci sia pulite che malinconiche e growls sia profondi che lenti.
Appena iniziamo ad ascoltare l'album, la prima canzone che sentiamo è 'Meaning Of Forever I'. Inizia con una tastiera e le ormai citate voci pulite, poi i suoni di chitarra e il growl ci investe. Nonostante questa grande variazione e diversità in una canzone, la musica appare naturale.
E' come dovrebbe essere. Questa variazione rende la musica molto bella.
Sebbene tutti i membri della band siano cristiani, i loro testi non hanno un tema principale riguardo la fede cristiana. Comunque, in diverse loro lyrics vediamo l'espressione della loro fede, come in Meaning Of Forever I : "Here I go again/ my closest friend has walked the path of heaven/ just when you think your life is endless/ you’ll be reminded of/ how nothing lasts forever."
I testi di Fading Beauty sono tutti malinconici come la stessa musica. Parlano del perdere le persone amate, dei dubbi, della tristezza; tutti questi temi sono riconoscibili in modo diverso.
Finchè questi testi avranno vita ognuno troverà un luogo in cui trovarsi con tutte le proprie emozioni... ed anche quelle negative sono permesse.
Questo è un CD che non annoia mai, anche dopo ripetuti ascolti. Da avere.

Morphia is a doom metal band from the Netherlands. Their latest album, "Fading Beauty", is released in 2005 by label FearDark.
The music on Fading Beauty is a combination of melodical music and heavy guitars, melancholical clean vocals and deep, slow grunts.
When we start listening to the album, the first song we hear is The Meaning of Forever I. It begins with a keyboard and the before mentioned clean vocals, after which the guitars and grunts reach our ears. In spite of the big variation and differences in one song, the music feels natural. It is just as it should be.
This variation just makes the music very good.
Allthough all band members are christian, their lyrics don’t have faith as a main theme. However, in a lot of them we see the faith come back, as in 'The Meaning of Forever I': "Here I go again/ my closest friend has walked the path of heaven/ just when you think your life is endless/ you’ll be reminded of/ how nothing lasts forever."
The lyrics of "Fading Beauty" are all as melancholical as the music itself. They’re about losing loved ones, doubts, sadness, all in a recognizable way. Still they breathe there’s a place to go with all your emotions – also the negative ones are allowed.
All in all this is an album certainly worth listening to, even after listening to it very much.
