Questo MiniLP è un capolavoro, fatelo vostro al più presto. Probabilmente la recensione potrebbe concludersi qui perché per qualunque discorso o ragionamento si opti si arriverebbe sempre alla medesima conclusione, ma forse è meglio andare con ordine.
Il disco fu pubblicato nel 1983 in seguito alle due Demotape del biennio precedente da cinque ragazzi che, all’epoca quasi sicuramente in modo inconsapevole, avrebbero influenzato il sound di qualunque altra band si accingesse dopo di loro a comporre un album di power o epic heavy metal.
I cinque musicisti in questione sono Jack "Damien King" Rucker al microfono, Bill “Destroyer” Tsamis alla chitarra, Dave “The Raven” Watry al basso, Mark “Thunderchild” Zonder alla batteria e Dianne “Sentinel” Arens alle tastiere. Una macchina da guerra perfetta, un vero e proprio “signore della guerra”.
Tutti i brani presenti vantano un livello qualitativo molto elevato e non ci sono riempitivi di sorta. Si parte con l’epicissima e cristiana ‘Deliver Us From Evil’ e già al primo ascolto ci si ritrova a cantare a squarciagola “Deliver us from Evil this day/Deliver us from Evil today”, ci si commuove con le toccanti ‘Winter Tears’ e ‘Penny For A Poor Man’ e ci si appresta estasiati all’ascolto del trittico delle meraviglie che segue: ‘Child Of The Damned’, ‘Black Mass’, ‘Lucifer's Hammer’. Tre brani in cui potenza, solennità, cambi di ritmo, testi apocalittici e capacità di evocare atmosfere sulfuree raggiungono un equilibrio perfetto e difficilmente ripetibile.
Nella versione giapponese è presente inoltre come bonus ‘Mrs. Victoria’, una canzone ritmata e trascinante che non sfigura rispetto alle sei gemme che la precedono.
Scendere nello specifico nella descrizione dei brani sarebbe superfluo quanto ingiusto nei confronti di chi, leggendo la recensione prima di aver mai ascoltato il disco, perderebbe la gioia e lo stupore che viene suscitato ad ogni cambio di ritmo al fulmicotone, ad ogni apertura melodica inaspettata, al semplice ritenere ogni traccia la migliore del platter fino a che non si passa all’ascolto della successiva.
Un esordio perfetto sotto tutti i punti di vista, anche perché indirizzare delle critiche ad una produzione buona ma non perfetta sarebbe ingeneroso e fuori luogo.
Fate vostro questo classico immortale che rappresenta ciò che l’epic heavy metal dovrebbe essere: potenza che non va a discapito della melodia, ispirazione continua e costante, e soprattutto capacità di evocare quel senso di epicità che poche altre bands sono davvero riuscite a creare.

This MiniLP is a masterpiece, make it yours as soon as you can, probably the review can end here cause every discourse or reasoning I can make, it would arrive to the same conclusion, but maybe it's better going with order.
The album was published in 1983, after two demos of the previous two years by five guys that, in that period almost surely in an unconscious manner, would have influenced the sound of every other band that played after them to compose an album of power or epic heavy metal.
The five musicians are Jack "Damien King" Rucker at the microphone, Bill “Destroyer” Tsamis at the guitar, Dave “The Raven” Watry at the bass guitar, Mark “Thunderchild” Zonder at the drum and Dianne “Sentinel” Arens at the keyboards. A perfect war machine, a real "lord of war".
All the songs in the album have a level of quality very high and there aren't any sort of fillings. They start with the epic and christian 'Deliver Us From Evil' and just at the first listening we can start to sing at high voice “Deliver us from Evil this day/Deliver us from Evil today”, and we can be touched by the nice 'Winter Tears' and 'Penny For A Poor Man' and we can go in to ecstasies listening the three following wonderful songs: ‘Child Of The Damned’, ‘Black Mass’, ‘Lucifer's Hammer’. Three songs in which power, solemnity, changes of rhythm, apocalyptic lyrics and capacities to evoke sulphureous atmospheres which reach a perfect equilibrium and difficult to repeat.
In the Japanese version there is also like bonus 'Mrs. Victoria', a rhythmic and dragging song that it doesn't disfigure than the six gems which precede it.
Describing in an accurate manner the songs would be superfluous and not right toward the readers of this review cause reading it before listening the disc would lose the joy and the astonishment that come with every changed rhythm and with every not expected melodic opening, thinking that every track is the best of the disc till the following track is listened.
A perfect debut under all the points of view, also because directing some critics to a good production but not perfect it wouldn't be a generous thing and out of place.
Search to have this classic immortal disc that represents what the epic metal would be : power that doesn't lose anything with melody, continuous and constant inspiration and above all capacity to evoke that sense of epic connotation that few other bands were really able to create.
