Era l’estate del 200 quando i Blood Drift realizzarono il loro primo DemoMCD, intitolato “Thrusting Plagues”. Lo stile dell’opera è un death metal oscuro, come essi stessi lo descrivono. Quando si inserisce il dischetto nello stereo e si ascoltano la prime note si viene investiti da un’onda sonora molto estrema e l’effetto è di rimanere shokkati sulla nostra sedia: ottimo inizio.
La musica continua con questo stile nel prosequio del DemoMCD. Possiamo ascoltare veloci passaggi di chitarra eseguiti da Vazal e Aris, o ottime parti di batteria eseguite da Legion. Abbiamo poi le ottime linee vocali in growl opera di Aris e soprattutto di Matt. Strano che egli possa riuscire ad eseguire growl così cattivi ed immensi.
Un punto negativo del DemoMCD sta nel fatto che le chitarre sono registrate con un volume troppo alto rispetto agli altri strumenti, come ad esempio nel primo pezzo, ‘Winds Of Persecution’, in cui il suono non esce come dovrebbe.
I testi di “Thrusting Plagues” sono basati sul libro dell’Apocalisse della Bibbia, che ben si collega a questo stile musicale. Le lyric sono oscure e poetiche come nel caso della title-track: “Seven scales / will infect the surface / thrusting plagues / and forget abut the rapture save / the end of times / when man won't find his death / thrusting plagues / and forget about the rapture save / no entrance till fulfillment."
Riteniamo che nel complesso questo primo lavoro della band belga sia ben realizzato e aspettiamo di sentire più materiale dei nostri. sicuramente il prossimo lavoro sarà infatti un album completo, così avremo modo di conoscere meglio la band.

It was the summer of 2007, when Blooddrift released its first demo, “Thrusting Plagues”. It's style is blackened death metal, like they describe it themselves. When we putted it in our music player, we were blown from our chairs by the first tones: a great start.
And the music goes on like this. We hear fast guitars from Vazal and Aris, great drums from Legion. And, off course, the grunts of Aris and most of all Matt. Who would say he could produce these immense grunts with his nice Flemish voice... But he does. One minor point on this DemoMCD is, that the guitars are recorded somewhat loud compared to the rest of the music, in 'Winds Of Persecution', the first song, which makes that the music doesn't always sounds as good as it should. The lyrics of "Thrusting Plagues" are all based on Revelation, which fits very well in this kind of music. They are dark, chilling and poetic, like in the title song 'Thrusting Plagues': Seven scales / will infect the surface / thrusting plagues / and forget abut the rapture save / the end of times / when man won't find his death / thrusting plagues / and forget about the rapture save / no entrance till fulfillment.
All in all we really like the music on this demo, and look forward to hear more from this Belgian band. Next time we'd like an album though, so we have more music to listen to.
