ITALIAN VERSION

Una scia di luce ha illuminato ancora la scena italiana di musica metal cristiana. La nuova band arriva da Catania, Sicilia (come già i Metatrone), si chiama Hypersonic ed ha registrato il primo DemoMCD con il titolo: “Inspiration Is Transpiration”. Il lavoro contiene quattro canzoni melodiche in un bello stile power metal nel quale possiamo trovare influenze dei Nightwish, Stratovarius e sonorità hard rock come quelle di Bon Jovi o Europe. La voce principale è quella di Alessia Rapisarda mentre la seconda voce appartiene a Salvatore “TuriMetal” Grasso che suona anche la batteria e scrive la musica; inoltre, insieme al chitarrista – Emanuele Gangemi – è responsabile dei testi. Gli altri membri della band sono Francesco Testa alle tastiere e Francesco Caruso al basso.
Tutte le canzoni degli Hypersonic dal punto di vista tecnico sono diverse. Ciascun pezzo contiene suoni specifici e parti ritmiche personali. La prima track intitolata ‘A Lovely Creature’ inizia con tastiere molto caratteristiche, simili allo stile dei Nightwish. La batteria nel contempo prepara l’ingresso per la chitarra. Poi violentemente parte la voce con strane e interessanti soluzioni sperimentate nelle strofe. I cantanti riescoo ad imprimere un ritmo forsennato. Sembra di essere in equilibrio tra uno stato di ipnosi senza piena coscienza e realtà.
Dopo questi passaggi la musica diventa più dolce e i suoni non sono così rigorosi. I veri punti caldi della melodia si hanno con le tastiere e le voci di Alessia e “TuriMetal” che si divertono nei cori. Bisogna stare attenti anche ai riff di chitarra, che forniscono simpatici passaggi impetuosi e momenti culminanti grazie alla voce femminile che improvvisamente cambia e diventa più incisiva. Il testo qui e’ personale per lo scrittore e sembra come un inno di elogio alla bellezza della donna: “(...) Her hair was a stormy sea / Her side was a hit cliff / Her eyes were a lighthouse in the sea / But her heart is not a stone (…) / She was a lovely creature / And the queen of my best future / That beauty is not typical of mankind / But only of the clay and of the sky”.
La seconda canzone, intitolata ‘Heaven’, è un puro manifesto del power metal.
I tempi della batteria e delle chitarre seguono la stessa linea dinamica. La musica è chiaramente piena di forza e trasmette positività. La potenza del suono è resa ancor più sottilineata grazie alle linee vocali. La voce qui è investita di un'importanza decisiva e sembra urlare al mondo la vittoria nella guerra contro il male. Nei testi ci sono anche temi chiaramente cristiani, dove lo scrittore cerca di mostrare lo splendore del paradiso e lo presenta come un impero di luce, posto speciale senza il dolore e la morte: “(…) Welcome to Heaven now / Gloria!!! It’s Angel will come / In the sky , the command is of God / Gloria!!! The power of light, is eternal / This is a sacred place / Where there isn’t dead / Land of immortal, sun of peace / Light of our eyes”.
La canzone seguente è ‘Wings Of Life’, che possiamo classificare come una tipica ballata. La track si apre con una tastiera che la "riempie" d'atmosfera; nel sottofondo sono poi registrate risate di bambini.
Dopo un attacco di chitarra molto delicato appare la linea vocale che guida la canzone in una melanconia soffice e di profonda riflessione.
Nella seconda strofa si inserisce la batteria con un tempo lento. Le voci diventano più energiche ogni secondo che passa incrementando la potenza del brano. Nei cori possiamo sentire la chitarra che si fa sempre più rude e aggressiva e sembra che la musica voglia esplodere. Le nostre orecchie sono bombardate da una cascata di riff. Rilevanti e da apprezzare in questa canzone sono le voci.
Qui le voci femminile e maschile si completano l’un l’altra perfettamente e creano un paesaggio immaginario, meraviglioso e romantico. Anche le canzoni parlano di seri, profondi problemi di povertà e dolori che pervadono il mondo: “Nowadays there’s so much hunger and poverty / Mankind shows indifference / Children die every day silently / In our mind only these images”.
Allo stesso tempo le persone sperano in una vita migliore e che qualcuno possa porger loro una mano caritatevole, per fornire un aiuto disperato e quantomai necessario: “In the suffering, in the pain / A new hope shines in their eyes / You are God’s face, the mirror of truth / The angels of mercy, white souls”.
L’ultima canzone, ‘Wheels Of Fire’ è scura e grezza nel suono. Nella melodia possiamo sentire un sottile tocco di doom o gothic. Le parti di chitarra sono più basse, e mantengono lentamente un ritmo monotono. Solo le tastiere sembrano rendere più solare la canzone. Anche le parti vocali sono malinconiche. Attraverso la voce fluisce un profondo desiderio di libertà, l’ascoltatore lo può sentire nei cori, che aprono uno spiraglio nel cuore.
Questo “desiderio di libertà" emerge bene nei testi, che parlano della moto del chitarrista tanto amata : “(…) A sense of freedom caresses while your power plays my music / Run my iron horse, run my motorbike / You and I together, we will drive around the world and we will be one”.
Gli Hypersonic sono senz'altro interessanti e vanno scoperti. I suoni del gruppo sono professionali e la qualità dello stile è su ottimi livelli. I fan di musica che apprezzano la voce femminile e hanno dei gusti AOR con toni delicati e che d'altro canto gradiscono un po' di aggressività dovrebbero apprezzare questo lavoro. Sarebbe curioso vedere quanto ancora si svilupperanno musicalmente gli Hypersonic e noi aspettiamo il loro full-lenght album.

On the italian christian metal’s scene has fallen stream of light again. The new band from Catania on Sicily (like Metatrone), called Hypersonic recorded their first DemoMCD under this title: “Inspiration Is Transpiration”.
The project contains four melodic songs in good power metal style in which we can find influences of Nightwish, Stratovarius and hard rock’s sound as we can hear for example by Bon Jovi or Europe.
The vocals of Hypersonic create Alessia Rapisarda as female voice which is actually situated on the main ground and second voice belongs to Salvatore “TuriMetal” Grasso who also plays the drums, writes music and together with guitarist -Emanuele Gangemi- is responsible for the lyrics. Another members of the group are Francesco Testa with keyboards and Francesco Caruso as bass player.
All Hypersonic’s songs from technical side are different. Everyone of them includes specific sound and rhythmic parts. The first title ‘A Lovely Creature’ begins by very characteristic keyboards, similar to Nightwish style.
Behind it follow the drums which make entrance for the guitar.
Then violently start the vocals with strange and interesting enunciation in the strophes. Singers quickly throw out the words from the mouth. It seems to be as a balance on the edge between state of hypnosis without full consciousness and reality.
After these verses, music becomes softer and sounds are not so rigorous. The true warmth of melody draws near especially through the high chords of keyboards and voices of Alessia and “TuriMetal” which join each other beautiful in the chorus. Worth to pay attention are also guitar’s riffs which give nice pieces of wildness to this art and culmination moment in the song with delicate female voice, which is suddenly changing into stronger.
Lyrics here is personal for the writer and looks as a hymn for praise the beauty of woman: “(...) Her hair was a stormy sea / Her side was a hit cliff / Her eyes were a lighthouse in the sea / But her heart is not a stone (…) / She was a lovely creature / And the queen of my best future / That beauty is not typical of mankind / But only of the clay and of the sky”.
Second position under the title ‘Heaven’ is a pure manifest of power metal. Tempo of the drums and guitar goes in the same dynamic line. Music is clearly full of strength and happiness. Just we can feel as all instruments are running somewhere into another dimension.
The force of sound attacks also in the vocal’s part. The voice is properly stronger and seems to calling for the victory in the war against evil. In the lyric there are clean christian themes, where writer tries to show splendor of Paradise and present it like empire of light, special place without sorrow and death: “(…) Welcome to Heaven now / Gloria!!! It’s Angel will come / In the sky , the command is of God / Gloria!!! The power of light, is eternal / This is a sacred place / Where there isn’t dead / Land of immortal, sun of peace / Light of our eyes.”
Next title ‘Wings Of Life’ we can classify as a typical ballad. The song opens atmospheric keyboard with sounds of laughing children in the background.
After short while joins the guitarist who beats on the chords very delicate. Then appears the vocal’s line which drives in soft melancholy and profound reflection. In the second strophe enter the drums with calm tempo.
Voices take more power and second by second increase with strength. In the chorus we can hear as guitar’s tones are changing into the more rough and aggressive and then just it seems to be that the music wants to explode. Our ears are bombarded by fantastic cascades of riffs. Very important to appreciate in this song are vocals and every listener should perceive it. Here female and male voices complement each other perfectly and create wonderful, romantic landscape. One voice can’t exist without the other.
Also the song talks about serious, deep problems of poverty and hunger on the world: “Nowadays there’s so much hunger and poverty / Mankind shows indifference / Children die every day silently / In our mind only these images“.
Simultaneously people are hope for the better life and can give always helpful hand to other who need it: “In the suffering, in the pain / A new hope shines in their eyes / You are God’s face, the mirror of truth / The angels of mercy, white souls”.
Last song ‘Wheels Of Fire’ is absolutely dark and raw in the sound. In the melody we can feel subtle touch of doom or gothic. Guitar’s parts are properly lower, keep the slowly, monotony rhythm. Only keyboards seem to put into the song more sun.
Also the vocal takes melancholic tones. Through the voice flows deep longing for the freedom, particularly listener can feel it in the chorus, where just drills the painful hole on the heart. This “longing for the freedom” stays in the lyric as well, which talk about beloved motorcycle of guitarist: “(…) A sense of freedom caresses while your power plays my music / Run my iron horse, run my motorbike / You and I together, we will drive around the world and we will be one”.
Assumed Hypersonic seems to be interesting to discover. Melody of the group sounds nice and quality of the style holds not bad level too. Music fans who appreciate female vocals and like AOR tastes with soft tunes and from other side with “little claw:” should be content. It’s curious to see how will go development of Hypersonic again and we await the full-length album of them.
