Autori di un vero e proprio portento di black metal progressivo ed elaborato come “2P3: Alchemists Earth of Aeon A.C.”, il duo degli olandesi Kildrith (voce) e Illithrir (chitarre, basso, batteria e cori) colpiscono davvero l'attenzione di chi ama il sound estremo unito a fantasia e una caratura tecnica non indifferenti.
Se a questo aggiungiamo, per i loro testi, una profondità a livello di tematiche che necessita per lo meno una conoscenza di buon livello della Bibbia, capirete come era quanto mai doveroso riuscire a scoprire tutto di questa talentuosa band.
Vediamo quindi di addentrarci nel mondo dei Borgazur con l'aiuto di Jasper Lindeboom (meglio conosciuto come Kildrith).
La vostra band, olandese , è formata da due persone. Puoi descriverci come avete iniziato questo progetto e la carriera dei Borgazur fino a oggi?

"Certamente. I Borgazûr hanno iniziato come una band che si è evoluta dalla precedente esperienza, ossia i Verdelger. Il nostro genere di musica è passato dal 'vero black metal' a una forma di black metal leggermente più progressiva con un sacco di influenze di tipo death."

Cosa significa il termine Borgazur?

"Etimologicamente il termine Borgazur non ha alcun significato. E' il nome di una città perduta, che è descritta in una novella fantastica di Ilithrir. Per noi rappresenta una città che tende a farci riflettere sulle vite di tutti noi. Ma da quando abbiamo lasciato il fantasy e siamo diventati più filosofici riguardo la vita dal punto di vista retrospettivo, Borgazur è la nostra stessa retrospettiva nella quale riflettiamo su ogni cosa che vogliamo.”

Il vostro primo album “2P3: Alchemists Earth of Aeon A.C.” ha un bellissimo suono e mixaggio: siete soddisfatti del vostro lavoro o cambiereste qualcosa se possibile?

"Beh , tanto per cominciare, grazie per il complimento. Abbiamo lavorato duramente sull'album scorso e Nokternal Hemizphear ha fatto il possibile sul trarre vantaggio delle qualità di un grande studio vicino a noi, chiamato Studio Forte. Noi eravamo meno preparati rispetto a quanto avremmo sperato, ma nello stesso tempo o lo avremmo fatto o non lo avremmo fatto per niente. Dal momento in cui abbiamo deciso di condividere le nostre creazioni con gli altri ci siamo andati, e abbiamo raggiunto, credo, un ottimo risultato. Adesso, trascorso un anno, penso che avremmo potuto fare effettuare alcune variazioni, ma la gente apprende col tempo e la strada da percorrere per raggiungere la perfezione percorsi lunghi e tortuosi. Di certo, il pensiero va più veloce del resto. E così, certo, come artisti abbiamo un pò di critica nei confronti dell' album "2P3...", ma considerato il percorso col quale lo abbiamo realizzato, ci stiamo felicemente godendo il risultato ottenuto.”

La produzione artistica del CD è veramente intensa secondo me. Puoi descriverci la copertina e il suo significato?

"Il titolo completo spiega un sacco dal punto di vista astratto. Ma beh , come puoi vedere al centro della copertina, ho disegnato un paesaggio contenente degli elementi naturali. Al centro ci ho messo una verde montagna che è il posto elevato nel quale la sorgente di tutte le cose buone fluiscono nella forma di bene. Di fronte alla montagna o al suo interno, è solo una questione di percezione, ci ho messo un albero. Questo tronco si riferisce sia all'albero della vita sia a ciò che è giusto e ciò che è sbagliato. Le montagne dietro questa cima particolare sono altri luoghi elevati che noi possiamo trovare nella nostra vita , ma senza la sorgente sono solo delle rocce sotto il cielo.
Gli alberi sulla destra sono più alti della gran parte delle montagne e alcuni raggiungono il cielo. Ma tutto questo è circondato da due confini con elementi malefici. I simboli del potere empirico, la distruzione, la morte, il male e altro ancora. Ci sono anche delle immagini di persone che hanno avuto un'influenza negativa sulla vita degli altri che sono stati condotti a una più netta separazione dall'unità della creazione. Questi sono gli occhi che costituiscono la visione e la prospettiva, ci sono delle placche che rappresentano l'anti-semitismo, la terapia oscura e il culto del sole.
Tutto ciò riflette i sistemi sbagliati per mezzo dei quali noi persone cerchiamo di raggiungere, ottenere una vita migliore e la pace eterna.
Nel complesso l'immagine descrive la coerenza della conoscenza, la fede e la diversità di formare il proprio cammino per migliorare. Tutti vogliono vedere una propria prospettiva migliore e in questi tempi pieni di diversità abbiamo voluto mostrare le nostre esperienze e il nostro modo di trovare la speranza e la fede attraverso percorsi migliori.
Il retro dell'album e' una riflessione sull'ignoranza della conoscenza perchè vengono prese in considerazione cose minori rispetto alla semplice verità. Viene mostrata la Terra che brucia per mezzo di tutte le accuse che noi facciamo nei confronti degli altri. E' un posto oscuro per crescere e un posto difficile per trovare una via confortevole e una strada che ci illumini in un caotico e vuoto sistema qual'è la società odierna.
L'etichetta del CD mostra le Nazioni Unite che sono entusiaste del loro lavoro ma invece nel nocciolo della questione il nostro mondo gli sfugge dalle loro mani. Noi riflettiamo in "2P3..." sulla distruzione che sotto forma di cielo nuvoloso stiamo osservando e sul nostro modo di essere, di vivere, che fa sanguinare la vita proprio per il modo errato con cui la si concepisce e vive.”

Il libretto ci mostra tutti i testi con molti riferimenti alla Bibbia. Sembra che sia veramente importante per te spiegarci di che cosa vuoi parlare nelle canzoni e così ci piacerebbe sapere qualcosa lyrics del vostro primo album.

"La prefazione dell'album, parzialmente lirica e scritta da mia sorella, racconta del pensiero dietro tutto il contenuto testuale di 2P3. Coloro che hanno i dubbi pensano di essere detentori della verità.
'Chistian Anarchism', è un pezzo che proclama l'anarchia contro le cose prive di significato che noi troviamo nella chiesa, che devia la gente dal percepire veramente ciò che è Dio e la fede. E' un genere di inno motivazionale per tutte quelle persone a cui piace il suono tipico del black metal. E' veramente una riflessione aperta sul regno di Cristo e di tutte le altre strutture cristiane istituzionalizzate e soprattutto una grande testimonianza da cantare. Ti racconta che noi dominiamo l'inganno e ridicolizza le bugie che potrebbero implicare i limiti della forma della fede.
'Repeat Of Underestimated Allures' tratta dell'amore e della moralità sessuale. Tratta anche di religione e della vita nell'allegoria di una ragazza che è la purezza della vita; alcuni uomini rappresentano le persone che contaminano la verita' infangando il vero significato dei simboli religiosi. Io rendo allegorica la sessualità e l'amore col significato biblico della rassomiglianza elementare della vita di tutti noi.
La quarta canzone intitolata 'Prognostication Of Victorious Travail' ci conduce alla testimonianza, allo studio e a colui che prega con cuore. "The Lords prayer" (colui che prega il Signore) è sempre presente nella canzone, e anche nella citazione del dr. Hovind con la parte del libro in cui si riferisce alla Rivelazione. In quel momento stavo registrando avevo perso tutto ciò che avevo. Non voglio approfondire molto questa storia, ma il fatto è che la mia vita era distrutta. Io piangevo in continuazione mentre ero nello studio. In seguito ho tratto le parole dalla registrazione e le ho inserite nel libretto. E' diventata una canzone di speranza e disperazione.
'Graven Image' ci porta ai vari modi con cui ricerchiamo il vero Dio che è l'origine di tutto il creato. Penso che la canzone stia testualmente usando un meraviglioso clichè col proposito di costringere la gente a pensare alla realtà delle cose. Almeno una persona dovrà cercare di sottostare alla verità! Il numero dell'uomo, la canzone numero sei chiamata 'Remove Your Highness', ci parla del destino e della fortuna. Una persona potrebbe essere felice e pensare che questo sia dovuto al destino e alla fortuna, ma poi la ragione e il motivo di questo ne viene del tutto trascurato e non c'è obiettivo per un qualcosa che va al di là della nostra esistenza. Io penso che la responsabilità sia uno dei maggiori risultati della nostra esistenza e il fatto che a noi persone vengano date cose nei modi che non capiamo ecco che viene attribuito tutto questo a una più elevata esistenza che noi chiamiamo Dio. Nello stesso modo tutti gli altri si definiscono cristiani.
'Alchemy Of Alleviation When A Fib Is Prevaricated' era una sfida testuale per me a quel tempo. Io ero estremamente in disaccordo con certa gente quando mi hanno derubato. Il mio odio derivava dal cuore e mi sentivo nel giusto a pensare che le loro azioni erano una pura definizione di male. Comunque io stavo cercando di seguire la strada del perdono e questo è molto importante per me. Ecco il motivo del mio improvviso cambiamento riguardo la testimonianza tramite la quale abbiamo deciso di cambiare messaggio in una forma più pulita per esprimere la nostra scelta di vivere nell'amore invece che nell'odio.
L'ottava song 'Christ On A Pyramid' è probabilmente la più amata dal nostro pubblico. Questo è dovuto ai semplici e diretti riff di chitarra ed alla mia linea vocale. Anche i testi per me sono meravigliosi perchè esprimono davvero molto e tutto in un'unica canzone. La track parla del simbolo di Cristo che è la pietra angolare, la quale è stata tratta da numerose tradizioni religiose come gli antichi babilonesi e gli idoli egizi del dio del sole. Io definisco qui Gesù Cristo come la via giusta in cui va vist la verità e la vita come la pietra angolare di ogni vita.
Ho anche ipotizzato una teoria sul perchè nella grande piramide di Giza viene a mancare il masso piramidale (in cima). Quella piramide particolare secondo alcuni professori, nella sua struttura, ha un sacco di riferimenti profetici che sono correlati alla cima mancante. La pietra angolare che viene a colmare la struttura piramidale potrebbe essere allora sia babilonese che egizia o massonica o appartenente a Cristo.
Se qualcuno volesse prendere spunto dalle note che ho aggiunto avrebbe parecchio materiale su cui lavorare. La canzone è alla fine solo un incentivo per indagare su questa particolare teoria derivante dai miei studi e che ho deciso di aggiungere nel contenuto testuale.
L'ultimo pezzo 'Nerdergexet In Des Angstig Stof (Put Down in the Fearful Dust)' è una canzone che esisteva già prima che entrassi a far parte della band. E' la parte di un ambito fantastica che spiegherò piu' tardi in questa intervista e parla di un guerriero in una città perduta che muore in battaglia contro delle orde che incutono il terrore. A livello di testi il brano è meno legato al resto dell'album ma ci sta bene comunque. Penso che la canzone sia fantastica e sono felice che l'abbiamo inserita nell'album!"

Nella band voi siete due musicisti, ma tu, Kildrith, sei il cantante mentre Ilithrir sembra saper suonare tutto; puoi spiegarci come nella band vi dividete l'ambito della composizione dei pezzi?

"Non e' difficile da spiegare. Noi non dividiamo completamente il lavoro compositivo. Ilithrir scrive ogni nota dato che dal momento in cui ho provato a farlo io Ilithrir era già stanco di aspettare e voleva già mettersi a suonarla , ahah... ma quando io mi dimentico qualcosa glielo dico e quando penso che ci dovrebbe essere un'ulteriore aggiunta torno al''attacco; comunque nella maggior parte delle volte lui ha già concluso il tutto.
Io mi occupo soprattutto di scrivere i testi delle canzoni e per questa cosa posso solo affermare che mi ritengo benedetto. Mi diverto a disegnare come hobby e pongo al centro dell'attenzione le mie abilità comunicative nelle relazioni pubbliche della band. Per me è un divertimento farlo.”

Anche il primo EP “Dit Tranendal verlaten” e' cristiano? Ho letto che vi piace scrivere anche dei testi fantasy, cosa potete dirci in proposito?

"E' dura. I testi di quell'album sono principalmente basati sulle storie incomplete che Ilithrir ha scritto. Questi testi non erano male e mi son divertito a registrarli. Io non avevo niente a che fare con queste liriche, così me ne sono occupato solamente più tardi. Ilithrir non aveva neanche una versione originale completa a quanto mi ricordo mentre ne avevo ancora una io. In ogni caso di questo EP ci sono pochissime copie sparse in giro. Potrebbero essere pubblicate un giorno ma per il momento non è così."

Com'e' la scena metal cristiana nel vostro paese? Siete in contatto con altre band cristiane da tutto il mondo?

"La scena metal cristiana in Olanda non è molto grande. C'e' un gruppo di otto persone che credo vadano a vedere ogni festival. E il più grande evento per un festival metal e' stato di duecentocinquanta persone. Siamo ancora un piccolo paesino su una spiaggia della Germania, e così che cosa dovrebbe aspettarsi qualcuno da qui?
Abbiamo dei contatti con altre band. Abbiamo dei contatti con pochi membri della band Slechtvalch. Conosciamo anche i ragazzi dei Morphia."

Suonate dal vivo ? E quali sono le vostre possibilità per un concerto da parte dei Borgazur ? Puoi descriverci le vostre esperienze passate?

"Io non ho mai fatto un concerto. E se lo facessi un giorno, sarebbe solo per i fan. Mi piacciono le emozioni e sul palco darei tutto. Ogni canzone ha un tale peso emozionale quando le canto...
Ilithrir ha più esperienza di me sul palco, ma non credo di poter parlare in sua vece circa questo argomento.”

Siete protestanti o cattolici o cos'altro?

"Beh attualmente non badiamo molto ai nomi ed alle istituzioni religiose. Io sono cresciuto come protestante. Ilithrir ha uno sfondo piu' carismatico. Frequentiamo entrambi le congregazioni religiose ma io non regolarmente. I miei amici e la mia famiglia fanno parte di una comunità religiosa e quando ci incontriamo ritrovo la forma migliore di me stesso in quella comunità. Io tendo a dire che siamo siamo accomunati ai cattolici; noi protestiamo contro le cose prive di significato come si addice a un protestante, siamo carismatici come un essere umano dovrebbe essere e siamo luterani e battisti come dovremmo essere. Noi cerchiamo di essere cristiani nella maniera più adatta. E nel progetto dei Borgazur ci prefiggiamo come scopo di base il fondamento dei diritti nei quali definiamo entrambi il risultato della fede.”

Vivi la tua band come una missione o è solo un personale bisogno di parlarci dei temi cristiani?

"E' un modo di evolvere la nostra amicizia; io e Ilithrir abbiamo deciso di occuparci di tematiche cristiane nei nostri testi per questo motivo. Abbiamo studiato un sacco e siamo entrambi alla ricerca della verità. Questo ci rende diversi e ci ha portato a stare insieme. Ma attraverso la nostra individualità abbiamo entrambi desiderato di condividere ciò che abbiamo trovato. E così si, possiamo dire che si tratta di una missione per noi parlare di certi argomenti ai nostri ascoltatori.”

Nel libretto troviamo all'inizio questo passaggio della Bibbia: “Perciò anche noi, da quando abbiamo avuto vostre notizie, non cessiamo di pregare per voi, e di chiedere che abbiate una piena conoscenza della sua volontà con ogni sapienza e intelligenza spirituale...” Col. 1:9
perche' questo passaggio particolare all'inizio del libretto?

"Lo abbiamo messo per mostrare la nostra compassione ai nostri ascoltatori. Abbiamo veramente lavorato duramente su quell'album; era il nostro forte desiderio pubblicare quell'album; in quel desiderio abbiamo voluto anche condividere con i nostri ascoltatori quello che abbiamo pensato circa i loro desideri. Abbiamo voluto aggiungere qualcosa di fresco e non solo piazzare un album nella massa delle nuove uscite. Abbiamo voluto spronare la gente a capire cose che contavano davvero.”

A voi piace veramente usare i passaggi della Bibbia; li troviamo anche quando vi presentate. Perche' Kildrith Il Saggio e il Cavaliere Ilithrir ? Potete spiegarci il significato di questi due nomignoli e la scelta dei passaggi della Bibbia ? (Intendo Rom. 1:20 e 1 J5:12

"Kildrith e Ilithrir sono nomi che derivano dalla storia fantasy di Ilithrir. Ilithrir era un cavaliere nella storia e Kildrith un gufo. Ilithrir ha sempre trovato in me una specie di insegnante e da quando la nostra testimonianza è divenuta esplicitamente cristiana siamo giunti a Kildrith Il saggio. Ecco qua. Noi ci chiamiamo Kill e Ill. Haha.
I passaggi della bibbia sono stati scelti in base alle parti che si sono rivelate importanti per la nostra crescita nella fede. Il mio era stato tratto dal primo libro di Giovanni Cap. 5 v. 20, ossia: “Colui che segue il Figlio di Dio ha la vita (eterna), colui che non lo segue non ce l'ha. Io sono d'accordo in parte. Io sono filosofico e mi piace prendere ogni cosa come una questione relativa, ma fino a quando trovo migliori risposte io continuo a tenermele come vere. Ilithrir d'altra parte ha un altro approccio alla vita. Il suo versetto dalla lettera ai Romani capitolo uno verso venti dice: “Dalla creazione del mondo le invisibili qualita' di Dio – la sua eterna potenza e natura – sono state viste chiaramente, sono state capite per la ragione per cui son state fatte, così che gli uomini sono senza scusanti.” Ilithrir definisce la sua verita' intendendo che lui si fida. Per entrambi è una questione di fede e un modo di vedere la vita da una prospettiva diversa. Noi abbiamo imparato l'un l'altro a definire, confrontare, insegnare e qualche volta accidentalmente sviare l'un l'altro. Ma alla fine noi siamo grandi amici e entrambi ricerchiamo una vita grandiosa e una definita verità. Noi abbiamo voluto aggiungere una nota vicino alle nostre foto nel libretto solo per mostrare alla gente un po' più di ciò che siamo.”

Dopo aver letto i testi del vostro album possiamo pensare che questo mondo è troppo ateo e pieno di umana razionalità. Non c'è più una fede ma la Creazione rimarrà in eterno. Sei d'accordo?

"Si, sono d'accordo. Sebbene non credo che gli atei possano affermare di essere nel giusto solo credendo di sapere nel momento in cui si guardano attorno... vedo troppa ignoranza. Senza una forza creativa dietro a tutto, ogni cosa sarebbe priva di significato.
I nostri cuori definiscono quello che è giusto da ciò che è sbagliato solo quando si è di fronte a un bene più grande e giudicato come non esistente o perfino solo impotente.
Non c'è modo di poter crescere o raggiungere uno stato di perfezione più elevata se siamo solo guidati da noi stessi. Sebbene io ritenga che un sacco di cose siano state create, bisogna solo guardarle da una prospettiva più aperta.
Ancora la creazione dev'essere definita altrimenti non vedo ragione di porsi la più grande domanda.
Chi sono io? Io sono io perchè sono utile, giusto, responsabile, amabile e amato, un portatore di pace, una parte della somma di tutto e perciò parte dello stesso Dio. Quando la gente chiama Dio al femminile, o come una cosa, o anche solo come una forza, posso immaginarlo allo stesso modo avendo empatia con loro.
Ma senza qualcosa di più elevato rispetto a noi, noi saremmo alla cima. E per essere onesto, questa improssionante palla di energia contiene un sacco di energia negativa e io non posso prendermi cura di un sacco di roba negativa. E' inutile e distruttivo e verrebbe imputata colpa a ogni fibra del mio essere. Non c'è niente di sbagliato rispetto all'umana razionalità là fuori, il fatto è che la gente non sa neanche essere umana per se stessa e il proprio ambiente. Così si, io sono pienamente d'accordo con quanto hai detto dopo aver letto i nostri testi.”

Le tue ultime parole per I lettori di HolySteel...

"Beh per prima cosa io spero che queste non saranno le mie ultime parole perche' ho cosi' tanto da fare e raccontare nella mia vita. Credo che potrei dare uno spunto di riflessione a tutti voi – Quando la vostra vita e' distrutta come la definite? Ma quando la morte è vita, come possiamo vivere il presente?
Occupatevi della vita adesso e ogni giorno fino a quando morirete. Così la vostra testimonianza dopo la morte sarà la vita invece della morte. Allora voi vivrete veramente la chiamata di colui che noi adoriamo; il Creatore di tutto!
Grazie a tutti! Celebrate le vostre vite per quanto marce possano essere. Il nostro metal e il vostro sacro acciaio possano tirarvi su di morale ovunque. Abbiate solo fede in voi stessi e desiderate e cercate sempre qualcosa di meglio! ”

Authors of a masterpiece of progressive and intelligent black metal like “2P3: Alchemists Earth of Aeon A.C.”, the two musicians from Holland, Kildrith (vocals) and Illithrir (guitars, bass, drums and backing vocals) are able to conquer all fans of extreme sound mixed with great talent for complex compositions.
Then we can add also a great deep knoledge for christian themes in thier lyrics about Bible and also for this it is interesting to know more about this band.

We can try to discover Borgazur world with the help of Jasper Lindeboom (well knowed like Kildrith).

Your band is a duo from Netherland. Can you describe the beginning of this project and the history of Borgazur till now?

"Sure I can. Borgazûr started as a band evolving from the earlier band Verdelger. Our music went from ‘true black’ to more intensive slightly progressive Black with a lot of Deathmetal influences flowing by.”

What is the meaning of the monicker Borgazur?

"Borgazur has etymologically no meaning. It is the name of a fallen city, which is described in a fantasy novel Ilithrir once started writing. For us it represents a city that tends to reflect on everyone’s lives. But since we’ve left the fantasy and became more concrete philosophic and about the retrospect of life, Borgazûr is our own retrospect in which we reflect upon everything we want to.”

Your first album “2P3: Alchemists Earth of Aeon A.C.” has a beautiful sound and mixing; are you satisfied of the work on it or you would change something if possible?

"Well, to begin with, thanks for the compliment. We worked hard on the album back then and Nhmetal made it possible to take advantage of the qualities of a great studio nearby us, called Studio Forte. We were a little less prepared as we could wish for, but at the time it was a matter of doing it, or not doing it at all. Since we would really like to share our creations with others we went for it, and with great result. Now over a year later we might have done things differently, but people learn in time, and the road to perfection has amazing processes we all have to go through. Though some go faster then others of course. So, yeah, as artists we have some criticism on the "2P3..." record, but seen the process we are happily enjoying the result.”

The artwork of the CD is really deep in my opinion. Can you describe the cover and his meaning?

"Actually the fullness of the title explains a lot in an abstract way of speaking. But well, as you can see in the middle of the front cover, I designed a atmospheric landscape containing natural elements. In the centre I placed a green mountain which is the high place where the source of all good flows from in the shape of a well. In front of it or through it, which is a matter of perception, I placed a tree. This tree refers both to the tree of life as to the tree of good and wrong. The mountains behind this particular mountain are other high places that we can find in life, but without the source they’re just rocks underneath a sky. The trees on the right are higher than most mountains and some even overreach the sky. But all is surrounded by two borders with evil elements. Symbols of empirical power, destruction, death, evil and more. Also there are pictures of people that had a negative influence on the self worthiness of others which lead to more separation of the unity of creation. There are eyes that appoint vision and perspective, there are plates that state anti-semitism, obscure therapy, and doctrinal sun worship. All this reflects on the mistaking ways by which we people deal with the search for better lives and eternal peace.
It’s total describes the coherence of knowledge, faith, and the diversity of shaping the way to elevation. Everyone wants to see better perspectives and in these times of diversity we wanted to show our experiences and our way with finding hope and faith in better ways.
The backside of the album reflects on the darkening of knowledge because of all the minor differences that are taking over simple truth. It shows the earth burning by all the accusations we make to one another. It’s a dark place to grow up and a hard place to find a comforting and enlightening way of life in a chaotic emptying system of society.
The CD label shows the United Nations that are enthusiastic about their work but in the core our world seems to blow up in their face. We reflect in "2P3..." on the cloudy destruction that we see going on, and we reflect on our beings that are continuously bleeding life due to systems and rules and regulations of the order of the masses. ”

The booklet shows all the lyrics with many references to the Bible. It seems that is really important for you explain what you want talk about in the songs, so tell us all about the lyrics of your first album.

"The preface of the album, partially lyrically written by my sister, tells the thoughts behind all lyrical content of "2P3...". It’s the secure being of truth inside the mind of continuous doubt and disappointment. The second song 'Christian Anarchism', is really a song of anarchism against the meaningless stuff we find in church that divert people from really seeing what faith and god is all about. It’s kind of a motivational hymn for all the people that like the sound blackmetal. It’s really an open reflection on Christendom and all other instituted Christian structures and overall a great testimony to sing. It tells you that we dominate deception and ridicule the lies that boundaries of the shaping of faith might imply.
The song about the 'Repeat Of Underestimated Allures' deals in concretion with love and sexual morality. It also deals with religion and life in the allegory of a girl being purity of life, and some men representing people defiling truth by raping true interpretation of the signs. I allegorise sexuality and love by biblical understanding of the elementary resemblance of life.
The fourth number on the album called 'Prognostication Of Victorious Travail' deals with testimony, study and heartfelt prayer. ‘The Lords prayer’ has always been in the song, and the quote of dr. Hovind with the part of the book of Revelation too, but the prayer at the end was a very spontaneous thing. In the time when I recorded that I just lost everything I had. I don’t want to go much deeper into that, but fact is that my life was destroyed. I was continuously weeping inside while I was at the studio. Afterwards I took the words from the recording and added them to the booklet. It’s become a song of hope and despair.
The 'Graven Image' song deals with the many diversions we come across in a search for the true God that the source of all Creation. I think this song is lyrically using the wonderful cliché’s for a new purpose that inflicts people to think about reality. All but one will shudder beneath the presence of truth! The number of man, song number six called 'Remove Your Highness', deals with the words fate and luck. One might be joyful and think he owes it to fate and luck, but then all reason and purpose is neglected and there is no goal for anything outside the fact of existence. I think responsibility is a major issue in existence and the fact we people are given things in ways we don’t understand defines a little of the ways of a higher existent we call God. Alike everyone else does who calls himself a christian.
The seventh song 'Alchemy Of Alleviation When A Fib Is Prevaricated', was a lyrical challenge for me at the time. I was extremely disappointed in certain people when they ripped me off. My hate was heartfelt and it felt righteous to define their actions as a pure definition of evil. However I was dealing with a great deal of theory about forgiveness, which is very important to me. That’s why the sudden change in testimonial form comes in when we start doing our clean vocal attempt to express our choice to live in love instead of hatred.
The eighth song 'Christ On A Pyramid' has probably become most loved by our audience. Due to the relatively easy guitar riffs and the great vocals I could perform. The lyrics are to me also wonderful because it contains such an amazing amount of knowledge in one song. It’s about the symbol of Christ being the cornerstone, where a lot of religious traditions take a cornerstone and put an eye in it, while referring to ancient Babylonian and Egyptian graven images of sun gods. I define Jesus Christ here as the right way of portraying truth and life as the cornerstone of every life. Also I played with a theory about the great pyramid of Giza which is missing the top triangle stone. That particular pyramid has according to some scholars and professors, in it’s building structure a great deal of prophetic references which end at the missing top. That cornerstone finishing the prophetic content of the pyramids structure would then be either babylonian, egyptian, masonic or Christ. If one would happen to find all the material for him to read that I trigger to find in the footnotes beneath the lyric, he’d have great material to study this for himself. The song is in the end just a trigger to investigate this particular theory by means of my pre-study that I added in the lyrical content.
The last song 'Nedergezet In Des Angstig Stof (Put Down in the Fearful Dust)' is a song that was pre existent to my joining in the band. It is part of the fantasy sphere which I’ll explain later in this interview, and it tells about a warrior in a fallen city who dies in the battle against hordes of fear. Lyrically it has less to do with the overall view of the album but it kind of fits in also. The song is great though and I’m glad we put it on the record!"

In the band you are two musician, but Kildrith is the singer and Illithrir seems to play everything; so can you explain how you divide the composition work in the band?

"That’s explained quite easy. We don’t divide the composition work at all. Ilithrir writes every note, and as far as I know I have written one note and Ilithrir is still annoyed by the fact he let himself talk into playing it, haha. But when I miss something I tell him that, and when I think the sphere should have another vibe I tell him that. And most of the time he already had something in mind that finished it off."

The first EP "Dit Tranendal verlaten" is also christian? I read that you like to write also fantasy lyrics, can you talk about?

"I hardly can. The lyrics of that record are mainly based on the unfinished novel Ilithrir wrote. Those lyrics were quite good and I enjoy the record a lot. But I have had nothing to do with it, since I joined later. Ilithrir doesn’t even have the full original version as I recall, which I do have still. But there are just less then seven copies going round. It might be released someday later, but for now it’s history.”

How is the christian metal scene in your country? Are you conctact with others christian bands fro all the world?

"The christian metal scene in Holland is not so big but very tight. There’s a group of some eighty people I guess that are visiting every festival loyally. And the biggest upcoming to a metalfestival has been some twohundred and fifty people. Yet we are one small cocky country on the beach of Germany so what should one expect from here.
We do have some contacts with other bands. We have contacts with a few members of the band Slechtvalk here. And when we meet the guys of Morphia we know eachother by face and name I guess. But outside that we’re more involved with other, more creative job related, disciplines.”

Do you play live and what are the possibilities to go on stage with Borgazur? Can you describe your past experiences?

"I myself have never performed. And if I would do that someday, it’d be for the fans to do so. I like my emotional privacy and on stage I would want to give all, but it will dry me out. I think I’ll be broken the next few days because every song has such an emotional weight hanging on it when I scream them.
Ilithrir has way more stage experience as opposite to myself. But I guess I can’t speak for him on this matter."

In the band you are protestant or catholic or what other?

"Well actually we don’t care about names and institutions that much. I myself am raised a protestant. Ilithrir has a more charismatic background. We both attend congregations but I’m no regular. My believing friends and family are my community and when we gather I find the best form for me of congregating. I tend to say we’re as common as catholics should be, we protest against meaningless form as protestants should be, we are as charismatic as any human being should be, and we are as lutheran and baptist as could be. We seek to be christians in the way that was intended. And in the project of Borgazur we aim for common ground based on the right foundations in which we both define our outcomes of faith.”

Do you live your band like a mission or is a personal need to talk about christian themes?

"It kind of evolved out of our friendship that Ilithrir and I brought christian themes into our lyrics. We studied a lot and continuously both search for truth. That made us differ and brought us together. But through our individuality we both indeed desired to share what we found. So yeah, it is a mission for us to talk about what we want to talk about in the way we want to bring it to our listeners. But though we kind of preach we just aim for change overall.”

In the booklet we find at the beginning this passage from the Bible: "For this cause also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye will be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding..." Col. 1:9 why you put particular passage at the beginning of the booklet?

"We put it there to show our compassion for our listeners. We really worked hard on that album and although it was our own desire to release our own album, in that desire we also wanted to share with our listeners that we thought about their desires. We wanted to add something fresh, and not just put an extra album on the load of mass music. Also we wanted to trigger people to try to understand things they count for true.”

You really like to use passages from the Bible; we find them also to shows the two musicians. Why Kildrith The Elder and Knight Ilithrir? Can you explain the meaning of these monickers and the choose of those Bible passages? (I mean Rom. 1:20 and 1 J5:12)

"Kildrith and Ilithrir are names from Ilithrir his fantasy novel. Ilithrir was a knight in the tale, and Kildrith an owl. Ilithrir always found in me some sort of teacher and since our testimony on 2P3 is explicitly christian we came on Kildrith the Elder. That’s it. We call ourselves Kill and Ill. Haha.
The Bible passages are chosen because of our personal touch in faith. Mine was of the first book of John chapter five verse twelve. It sais “He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.” I am quite straight forward and black and white by personality. I am philosophical and like to take everything as a relative issue, but until I find more and better definitions I keep what I know as my truth. Ilithrir on the other hand has another approach to life. His verse from the letter to the Romans chapter one verse twenty says; “For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.” Ilithrir defines his truth by means of what he trusts.
Both is a matter of faith and a way of viewing life from another perspective. We learn from each other, define, confront, teach and sometimes accidentally divert each other. But in the end we are great friends and both seek a great life and definite truth. We wanted to add a personal note next to our heads in the booklet, just to show people little more about who we are.”

After reading the lyrics of your album we could thing that this world is too much atheist and full of human rationalism. There is no more faith but Creation will stands always. Do you agree?

"Yeah I agree. Although I do not believe atheists can be true to their own belief when they look around, I see way too much ignorance. Without any creative force behind it all anything will be meaningless. What outside our hearts defines right from wrong when all greater good is viewed non existent of even just impotent. There’s no way we can grow to a better and more perfect state by our own guidance. Although I do believe a lot of things put in creation are giving guidance by itself when viewed from an open perspective. Yet Creation must be definite otherwise I see no reason to deal with the biggest question.
Why am I? I am because I am useful, worthy, responsible, lovable and loved, a bringer of peace, a part of the sum of everything, and therefore part of God himself. When people call God a she, or an it, or even just some force, I can imagine and have empathy with them.
But without anything higher we are the top. And to be honest, this amazing ball of energy contains a lot of negative energy, and I cannot care a lot for negative stuff. It is useless and destructive and it accuses every fibre in my being. There is nothing wrong with human rationalism outside the fact that people do not even know how to be humane to themselves and their environment. So yeah, I fully agree to what you conclude after reading our lyrics.”

Your last words for HolySteel readers....

"Well, at first I really hope these won’t be my last words because I have so much more to do and tell in my life. But I guess I could give an brain squeezer for you all. – When your life is destroyed then how do you define life? But when death is life, how can we live at the moment? Take up your life now and everyday until you die. So your testimony after death will be life instead of death. Then you will truly live up to the call of the one we worship; the Creator of everything!
