Ecco l’ultima release dei Delirious?: "Kingdom Of Comfort". Questo nuovo album per i Delirious? significa nuovi tour, nuove canzoni, ma l’inconfondibile stile della band rimane lo stesso. Certo il nome con quel punto interrogativo è molto curioso, a quanto pare tramite il loro nome i Delirious? lanciano una sfida, è come dire “pazzi?”, forse perché in un mondo dove i valori stanno decadendo, comporre un’intera serie di CD che parla di Dio, del suo amore, della sua gloria è andare molto controcorrente.
Ma loro non si definiscono fin troppo pazzi, “Siamo 5 ragazzi davvero normali che provengono da una città molto piccola e addormentata della costa sud dell’Inghilterra.. Amiamo la musica la vita e amiamo suonare.”
Ora che sappiamo di chi stiamo parlando, persone come noi, possiamo proiettarci nel nuovo album. In un’intervista rilasciata per “The-Mag” alla domanda dell’intervistatore “Quali sono le vostre speranze per questo nuovo album?” il tastierista risponde “La nostra speranza, è che molte vite siano toccate tramite la musica. La musica ha il potere incredibile di connettere la gente, e questo fa della musica un mezzo privilegiato con cui venire a contatto con molte vite. Speriamo che questa produzione provocherà, inspirerà, intratterrà.”
Bene, allora non ci resta che esaminare quanto hanno centrato il loro obiettivo.
L’album apre proprio con la title-track ‘Kingdom Of Comfort’, canzone coperta interamente da una chitarra elettrica che arpeggia il brano da inizio a fine. L’intero pezzo è un’appello a Dio “Save me, save me / From the kingdom of comfort where I am king / From my unhealthy lust of material things”.
Poi al centro della canzone quasi un grido del cantante che inneggia “Salvami”, circondato da voci spettrali. A creare un’atmosfera magica, di certo questi Britannici ci riescono bene. Infatti questa la loro caratteristica, musica ripiena di batteria, basso, chitarra e strumenti che danno note d’elettro-shock come la tastiera elettronica. Infatti possiamo ben apprezzare la qualità audio di questo CD e vi diamo un consiglio: per godere al massimo del sonoro di "Kingdom Of Comfort" è consigliato azionare al massimo le proprie casse, naturalmente facendo cura a non stonare qualche vicino..
Se nella prima l’atmosfera era piuttosto cupa per la situazione materiale che questi artisti descrivono bene, la seconda ‘God Is Smiling’, è un surrogato di gioia somministrato gradualmente, dal ritmo abbastanza sereno iniziale al ritornello molto carico. Naturalmente circondato da alcuni cori, non si smentiscono mai. Almeno non per ora, perché se saltiamo qualche traccia e ci proiettiamo in ‘How Sweet The Name’, canzone molto bella e profonda, accompagnata da un piano che è un vero tributo a Gesù notiamo come i Delirious? per trasmetterci un messaggio sono disposti a variare molto. Esaminiamo i testi in italiano “Gesù, quant’è dolce questo nome, il nome che salva”. per concludere alla fine della canzone “Ogni anima, ha bisogno di un salvatore”.
Questi sono i pezzi che noi abbiamo esaminato, ma vediamo qual è la track preferita della band stessa. Infatti nella stessa intervista sopra citata, alla domanda “Avete una canzone preferita in "Kingdom Of Comfort" e perché?” il tastierista risponde “Al momento la mia canzone preferita è una traccia chiamata ‘All God’s Children’. E’ inspirata ad un progetto in cui abbiamo preso parte che sostiene i bambini che si trovano in alcuni distretti a luci rosse dei quartieri poveri di Mumbai in India. Non importa se siamo leader di chiesa, insegnanti, se siamo in una band, o se viviamo in dei quartieri poveri di Mumbai, siamo tutti bambini di Dio.”
Dopo aver esaminato attentamente quest’album, possiamo dare un giudizio conclusivo. Chi apprezza la musica rock e le sue sfumature, non potrà non apprezzare anche questa chicca.

This is the last fatigue of Delirious?: “Kingdom Of Comfort”. The new album involves a new tour and new song, but the original trademark of the band is kept unchanged. The name with that question mark is really ambiguous; it seems that they are trying to challenge someone saying “are we crazy?” In this world where true values are dying, the choice to make a whole album about God, His love and His glory is it really upstream!! They define themselves “5 normal guys coming from a very little and sleeping city in the southern coast of England…We love live, music and to play it!”
They are normal people like us, nothing different. In an interview for “The Mag” magazine, to the question “What are your hopes for this album?”, the keyboardist answered: “Our wish is to touch so many lives by means of our music. Music has the great power to join people together, and this makes music the best way to reach people’s lives. We hope that this album will inspire, entertain someone!” So let’s analyze the album.
The album starts with the title-track 'Kingdom Of Comfort', in which the guitar produces continuous arpeggios since the beginning for the whole song duration. The song is a summoning of God: “Save me, save me / From the kingdom of comfort where I am king / From my unhealthy lust of material things”.
Then, halfway, almost a cry of the singer 'Save Me', surrounded by spectral voices. They know how to create a magical atmosphere, it’s their feature: music in which drums, bass, guitar and keyboards create like a shock in the listener. To better listen to the cd we want to give you this advice: to fully enjoy “Kingdom of Comfort” raise the volume to the maximum, don’t forgetting to apologize with your neighbors!
The next song 'God Is Smiling' is full o joy, slowly displayed, with a calm initial calm and with an harder refrain.
Let’s skip some songs to reach 'How Sweet The Name', really intense and beauty song, in which the melody created by the keyboard is an intense homage to Jesus; here is remarkable how Delirious? can easily change rhythm to transmit a message: “Jesus, how sweet is this Name, the Name that saves you.”; and in the end: “Every soul needs a savior”.
We know the band’s favorite song of the album: as they answered to the same interview said before: “Now my favorite song is the one called 'All God’s Children'. It is inspired to a project, in which we took part, which aims to protect children living in the red-light district in Mumbai, India. Doesn’t matter if we are leaders, teachers, artists, or if we live in poor districts…we are all God’s Children!”
Our final judgment is that everyone who loves rock music and its different variations won’t be disappointed from this little masterpiece.
