NEWWORLDSON  "Salvation Station"

Direttamente dalle cascate del Niagara arrivano i Newworldson, band formata da Joel Parisen (voce & tastiere), Josh Toal(chitarra e voce), Rich Moore (basso) e da Mark Rogers (batteria).
Il gruppo in questione è figlio una matrice blues, ma il sound proposto non si può etichettare solamente sotto questo genere, perché la loro musica è un misto di sonorità soul, roots music e gospel, impostati su una solida base blues!
Sta di fatto che i Newworldson sono una vera e propria rivelazione nel campo della musica contemporanea, capaci di conciliare un sound veramente interessante con tematiche religiose.
L’album che ci troviamo di fronte è un misto di sonorità, coinvolgenti e capaci di trasportare l’ascoltatore lungo questo viaggio che parte dalla “Salvation Station” per farci toccare l’amore del Signore.
Così un fischio ci fa capire che il treno parte, con l’opener ‘Salvation Station’, per poi proseguire con ‘Working Man’ dove esce il lato più blues, più soul della band. Gli strumenti lavorano alla perfezione mostrando una fortissima sintonia, condita dalla prestazione del cantante che davvero conferma di avere una gran bella voce.
La chitarra è la regina di ‘Gimme’ brano dal ritmo accattivante, veramente ben riuscito!
‘Sweet Holy Spirit’ è la ballata del CD, canzone di rara intensità che riesce a toccare il profondo; il gruppo dimostra di avere una forte coesione tra i vari strumenti e la voce di Joel Parisen.
‘Citybus Lovesong’ presente ritmi più spensierati, ma sempre coinvolgenti!la presenza di un kazoo (strumento a fiato, a forma tubolare che vibra con la voce del suonatore) sorprende l’ascoltatore ma sempre in senso positivo.
Le tematiche affrontate dal gruppo sono molto forti e per un verso o per l’altro parlano sempre di fede.
‘Gimme’ è una richiesta di aiuto al Signore: "Gimme what I need to get me through one more day / I need to know you love me / Help me along and see me through / I need you oh I need you / Yes it's true / I really need you now gimme now / Gimme gimme some shine gimme gimme love / Gimme gimme favor with God above / Show me show me mercy gimme gimme Grace / You've got to let me know that you're in this place.”
Dedicata allo Spirito è ‘Sweet Holy Spirit’: “Pride is weighing me down / It's choking my heart / I'm chained up and bound / If pride is my prison / Then Grace be my key / Sweet Holy Spirit / Come rescue me / Spirit Spirit I surrender / Spirit Spirit I submit to you now / Spirit Spirit I surrender / Spirit sweet Holy Spirit...”
Molto forti anche le parole del brano che chiude questo CD, ‘Pledge Of Alliance’, che sono una preghiera al Signore, una richiesta di aiuto: “Do yes I do yes I pledge my love to you / I do yes I do I pledge my love to you / Don't break my heart / Please don't tell me things that I can't bear to hear / Don't let me down / Show me what I've got to do to draw you near / Don't pass me by / Please don't overlook the servant at your side / Don't slip away / If you leave my hand I'll be paralyzed.”
Questo CD è forse una delle migliori uscite nel campo della musica cristiana contemporanea; i Newworldson hanno dimostrato di avere grandissime capacità, e un genio artistico veramente notevole.

Directly from Niagara Falls, in Canada, it comes Newworldson, a band formed by Joel Parisen (voice & keyboards), Josh Toal (guitar & voice), Rich Moore (bass guitar) and Mark Rogers (drums).
The band is the son of a blues matrix , but the proposed sound it’s not only about this genre, because their music is a mix of soul sonorities, roots music & gospel, based on a solid blues!
Newworldson is a real revelation at the contemporary music connotation, able to conciliate a real interesting sound with religious themes.
This album is a mix of involving sonorities able to transport the listener along this travel that start from “Salvation Station” to make us touching the love of the Lord.
So we know through a whistle that the train leaves, with the opener ‘Salvation Station’, and continues with ‘Working Man’ when there is the most blues and soul side of the band. The instruments plays with perfection showing a strong tuning , spiced with the execution of the singer that really confirms to have a great and nice voice. The guitar is the queen of ‘Gimme’ a song with a winning rhythm, reall well done!
‘Sweet Holy Spirit’ is the ballad of the CD, song with a rare intensity that can touch the deep; the band demonstrates to have a strong cohesion with various instruments and the voice of Joel Parisen.
‘Citybus Lovesong’ presents thoughtless rhythms , but always involving! The presence of a kazoo (wind instrument, with a tubular form that vibrates with the voice of the singer) catches the listener but always in a positive way!
The themes faced by the band are very strong, in one way or another they always talk about the faith.

This CD is maybe one of the best albums in the christian contemporary music field, Newworldson demonstrated to have vast capabilities, and an artistic genius really noticeable. Being the first time that on our website we deal with this genre, giving a vote it would be superfluous, because it misses the bases to valuate a production like this one; we can say however that "Salvation Station" is an album to listen.
