Eccolo arrivato! E’ “Terium” il maestoso e tanto atteso come-back dei power metaller cristiani Seventh Avenue!
Dopo una pausa lunga quattro anni, la band tedesca sforna un autentico capolavoro di potenza, melodia e velocità. La maturità e la bravura che viene espressa in questo disco, dopo ormai dieci e più anni di esperienza, risulta essere alla fine il vero punto di forza su cui poggiare il resto.
Certo, ne è passato di tempo dall’ultimo, peraltro stupendo, full-lenght “Eternals” e abbiamo dovuto attendere a lungo, ma fidatevi, tutto questo si fa assolutamente ripagare nel migliore dei modi!
Herbie Langhans & co. non falliscono neanche una mossa e si giocano alla grande le loro carte, consapevoli di aver creato qualcosa di importante, che si farà senz’altro spazio nella ormai vastissima scena heavy europea.
Non c’è una sola traccia da scartare o possibili cali di tensione all’intero dell’album, che scorre via nella maniera più tranquilla e godibile.
La breve intro strumentale di un minuto, ‘Under The Surface’, che ricorda molto il motivetto iniziale di ‘Send Me A Sign’ dei Gamma Ray, lascia subito spazio all’esaltante power metal di ‘Crowd In The Dark’, uno dei primi pezzi lanciati dalla band nella promozione. L’influenza di Iron Maiden e Gamma Ray mostra i suoi primi segnali sin da subito attraverso scoppiettanti incroci di chitarra, un’ appeal molto easy e divertente di chiara attinenza helloweeniana e una melodia di facile presa.
Le velocità si fanno, invece, decisamente più sostenute con il successivo episodio, ‘Terium’, che in alcuni momenti sembra davvero uscire da un lavoro degli Helloween. Le ritmiche in up tempo di matrice power/speed sono le protagoniste assolute della titletrack, assieme a stupendi cori epici e ad un ritornello iper-solare che mette un sorriso smagliante tra le labbra dell’ascoltatore e alla fine risulterà uno dei momenti più alti nella scaletta.
Arriviamo alla quinta stupenda song, il capolavoro assoluto dell’album, ‘Futures Dawn’.
Signori, non ascoltavo un brano power metal così esaltante da tempo! Dopo l’avvio elettro-acustico, che non può non rimandare ai Gamma Ray di ‘Land Of The Free’, la canzone parte a mille con riff di chitarra sparati all’ennesima potenza, melodia celestiale, chorus anthemici, assoli e uno dei ritornelli più belli che io abbia mai ascoltato. Un pezzo che sarà certamente presente nella set list dei live dei Seventh Avenue, scommetteteci.
“Terium” corre via come un treno senza freni, senza mai fermarsi, estrapolando dal vano merci un’altra gemma preziosa, la acceptiana ‘Needs’, altro grande mid-tempo. Il riff iniziale, dopo una scarica tellurica di batteria è qualcosa di incredibile nella sua semplicità, con una solidità e un equilibrio da fare letteralmente invidia.
Certo, anche qui l’influsso Maiden è onnipresente, questo lo si può notare facilmente nel motivo principale della chitarra, ma diciamolo in tutta franchezza, chi non è anche lontanamente condizionato dall’influsso di una delle più grandi metal band di tutti i tempi?
La seguente canzone, ‘Two Masters’, prosegue sulla stessa linea stilistica della precedente, strizzando parecchio l’occhio alle melodie dei Gamma Ray,con valanghe di riff potentissimi di cui Mr. Kai Hansen andrebbe certamente fiero, e con un arioso e inaspettato chorus maledettamente azzeccato.
Altro superbo must del disco è la decima traccia, ‘Priest And Servants’. L’inizio della song lento e atmosferico, con la presenza del piano e di tappeti di tastiera, lascia presagire ad una power ballad, cosa che poi non si rivelerà, perché dopo un minuto circa si scatena una tempesta di puro e martellante metallo, che mostra ancor di più l’ascendenza per il power metal crucco di Helloween e Gamma Ray.
L’unico neo in un oceano di ottima musica è rappresentato solo dall’introduzione di ‘Trail Of Blood’ fin troppo somigliante all’immortale refrain di ‘The Trooper’, che però non basta a far abbassare il livello alto del disco.
Dopo i brani successivi, ‘Betrayal’ e ‘Way To The Stars’, che non si discostano parecchio da quanto già ascoltato è il turno della bellissima ballata acustica ‘Innocence’, song bellissima che in alcuni frangenti mi ha fatto rimembrare le note sublimi di ‘In My Defense’, uno dei pezzi lenti più belli della storia del rock partorita dalla mente di un mito immortale come Freddy Mercury.
Che dire infine alla presenza di un grandissimo lavoro? I Seventh Avenue sorprendono sempre più, mostrando una crescita continua in ogni loro produzione.
Li abbiamo tanto aspettati e ora godiamoci questo grandioso ritorno! Una boccata d’aria per il power metal ci voleva proprio.

It’s come! It’s “Terium” the majestic and so much waited return of the christian power heavy metal freaks Seventh Avenue!
After a long break of four years, the german band produced an authentic masterpiece of power, melody and speed. The maturity and cleverness expressed in this album, after at least ten and more years of experience, it results to be the real strength on which putting the rest.
Certainly, it’s passed a lot of time since the previous album, moreover wonderful, the full-length album “Eternals” and we had to wait for a long, but trust to us, all of this will be repaid in the best of ways!
Herbie Langhans & company don’t fail neither a move and they play greatly their cards, conscious having created something important , that will be cool in the vast heavy metal european scene.
There aren’t any track to unwrap or there aren’t any possible losses of tension inside the album, which flows in the calmest and in the most enjoyable manner.
The short instrumental intro of a minute, ‘Under The Surface’, that remembers a lot the beginning motif of Gamma Ray’s ‘Send Me A Sign’ , lets suddenly a space to the exciting power metal song ‘Crowd In The Dark’ , one of the first songs played by the band during the promotion of the album. The influence of Iron Maiden and Gamma Ray shows its first signals since the beginning through crackling guitar intersections , an appeal very easy and funny of clear Helloween connection and a melody of easy hold.
The speeds becomes, instead , clearly more supported with the following episode, ‘Terium’, that sometimes it seems really an Helloween production. The rhythmic in up time of matrix power/speed is the absolute protagonist of the title track, together to epical chorus and a very sunny refrain that puts a dazzling smile on the listener face and it will result at the end one of the highest moments of the song list.
Let’s arrive to the fifth wonderful song, the absolute masterpiece of the album, ‘Future Dawn’.
Gentlemen, I hadn’t been listening a song so much exciting since for so long time! After the electro–acoustic starting, which can be reminded only to Gamma Ray’s ‘Land Of The Free’, the song starts fast with guitar riffs raised to the nth power, celestial melody, anthemic chorus, solos and of the most beautiful refrains I’ve never listened. A piece that will be certainly present in the set list of the live shows of Seventh Avenue, bet on it.
“Terium” speeds away like a train without breaks, without never stopping, extrapolating from the wares wagon another precious gem, the Accept style song ‘Needs’, another big mid-time song. The starting riff, after a telluric discharge of drums, it’s something incredible in its simplicity , with a solidity and an equilibrium to make literally envy.
For sure, also here the Maiden influx is omnipresent, we can easily notice it in the main motif of the guitar, but let’s say it clearly, who isn’t conditioned by the influence of one of the biggest metal band of all the times ?
The following song, ‘Two Masters’, proceeds on the same stylistic way of the previous song, winking a lot the eye to the Gamma Ray melodies, with avalanches of powerful riffs about which Mr. Kai Hansen would be proud, and with an airy and unexpected chorus damnably stricken.
Another great song to listen is the tenth track, ‘Priest And Servants’. The beginning of the song, slow and atmospheric, with the presence of the keyboard and carpets of keyboards, it foresees a power ballad, thing that then it will not reveal, because after about a minute, a storm of pure and incessant metal broke out, which shows yet a time, the ascendance for the german power metal of Helloween and Gamma Ray.
The only fault in an ocean of excellent music is represented only by the introduction of ‘Trail Of Blood’ too much similar to the immortal refrain of the song ‘The Trooper’ , that it isn’t sufficient to lower the high level of the disc.
After the following songs, ‘Betrayal’ and ‘Way To The Stars’, that aren’t diverged from what just listened, it’s the turn of the wonderful acoustic ballad ‘Innocence’, very beautiful song that sometimes made me remembering the sublime notes of ‘In My Defense’, of the most beautiful slow pieces of the history of rock produced by the mind of an immortal myth like Freddy Mercury.
What saying at the end in front of a big production ? Seventh Avenue impress more and more, showing a continuous growth in their every production.
We waited for them for so long and now let’s enjoy this great return! We really needed to take a breath of air for power metal.
